NOVA LEVANTE
Nova Levante (1,182 m) stretches from 850 to 2,842 metres a.s.l. The unique nature of the Dolomites World Heritage Site between the Passo di Costalunga (1,600 m) and the Catinaccio massif can be explored on two legs or two wheels – and obviously also on skis, as soon as winter comes to the Val d’Ega and the slopes of the Catinaccio mountain turn into the fantastic Carezza family ski area. Go from the heart of the village directly to the pistes with the Nova Levante cabin lift! The descent from the Fronza alle Coronelle mountain refuge, no less than 7.6 km long, leads straight back to the town centre. And in summer there are walking trails, fixed rope routes, mountain hikes, the Carezza bike trail and the bike park awaiting those who just can’t get enough active adventure!
COLLEPIETRA
Collepietra and the little hamlet of San Valentino in Campo actually form the first European star village! They have gained this status because of the observatory, the solar observatory, the planetarium, the “planetary trail”, the “trail of the stars” and because of their full moon events and other activities focusing on astronomy themes. But Collepietra has another – cultural – ace up its sleeve: Karneid Castle, dating from the 11th century, is definitely worth a visit! And the earth pillars of Collepietra are just another stunning attraction in the area’s natural surroundings. TIRES
Tires, located between 700 and 3.002 m asl, is a little village at the foot of the Catinaccio and has got some 900 inhabitants. It comprises the component localities of S. Cipriano, Brié, Bagni di Lavina Bianca and Tires itself.
Large parts of Tires are located in the protected area of the Sciliar-Catinaccio nature park, so to speak in the impressive landscape of the Dolomites. On foot, on the horseback, on your mountain bike or hang-gliding, there are numerous way to experience this area.
